Experience:
Scott Kane is an attorney with five years’ experience representing clients in both litigation and transactional matters. In addition to being an attorney, Mr. Kane is also serial entrepreneur who has personally started two businesses and helped launch countless others through his small business counseling practice. 

While Mr. Kane prides himself on being a legal generalist, he has developed expertise in the following legal subject matters: commercial litigation, corporate law, landlord-tenant litigation, real estate transactions and litigation, condominium litigation, estate planning and probate litigation, wage theft, and copyright law. Additionally, Mr. Kane has successfully represented several clients at trial and has appellate litigation experience.

Mr. Kane frequently provides pro bono lectures on tenants’ rights through various community organizations, including, inter alia, the Logan Square Neighborhood Association, Chicago LIFT, and the Northwest Side Housing Center. His legal practice has been covered by the Chicago Sun-Times, the Chicago Tribune, CBS Chicago, Crain’s Chicago, and Block Club Chicago.

Prior to practicing law, Mr. Kane enjoyed a career at the Center for Economic Progress, an anti-poverty non-profit dedicated to providing free financial services to low income families in Chicago and the state of Illinois.

Education and Credentials:

Mr. Kane is a graduate of Northwestern University School of Law (J.D. cum laude, 2014), where he served as the Northwestern Journal of Technology and Intellectual Property’s Executive Online Editor and was honored with a Public Service Award for his “extraordinary service” in volunteering. Mr. Kane is also a graduate of the University of Michigan (B.A. Economics, B.A. Sociology, 2007) and proud Wolverine.

Mr. Kane is licensed to practice law throughout the state of Illinois and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

Moving to Logan Square, Chicago in the Fall of 2008 was one of the most formative decisions of my life. My heart was instantly captured by the neighborhood’s beautiful boulevards and striking architecture. I knew then that, whatever I would make of myself, I would make it here. Upon being licensed to practice law in 2014, it was my honor to make good on that promise and found my practice dedicated to serving the community I loved with affordable high-quality legal representation.
